House of Shadow and Flame came out on January 30th and readers all over the United States attended a book release party at Barnes and Nobles’. Ranging from over 20 different states, the book stores remained open until midnight for Maas’s fans and Sarah J Maas herself, to celebrate the release of this highly anticipated book. Many individuals, the majority attendees being women, cosplayed characters from the book as well as made appearances in franchised merchandise.
The 812 page novel contains a story about a woman named Bryce Quinlan and a large number of friends who all have her back beyond the impossible. Quilan, Sarah J Maas’s beloved female main character, believes in a better world and fighting for those she loves. Albeit, in the previous two books, Bryce Quinlan, has suffered many losses like the death of friends, beckoning death, and a loneliness like no other. Maas does a spectacular job with character development and as the 2300 page series carries on, Bryce finds loneliness to dissipate along with the fear of relationships.
