Music flooded my heightened senses as its beat mimicked the exasperated throb of my heart and the cadence of my breaths. I felt its pulse run down the dancing hairs of my arms and the loose bones of my spine, vibrating beneath the bounces of my soles. With its soft sounds it caressed my arms, my body wallowing in its glory, flowing freely. I could feel the warm breath of the room as I spun around it, tearing my suctioned shoes from the beer soaked floor. Each beat seemed to exhale another heated breath tickling my dewy skin. Each beat seemed to spin me round, seemed to twirl my listening hair with its coercing essence. A room of fae lights blurred through my spiraling vision. Some small glimmers of iridescent purple, strung bulbs of red and green and blue, and a fading glow of the sun sprinkled my line of sight. Liquor coated my throat, beer coated the soles of my shoes, and music coated my senses. I swallowed another sip of fizzing liquid, heightening my senses once more, and filling my insides with a blaze. Dripping warmth within my throat followed a touch of heat around my hand. Yet, it wasn’t the music, nor its filling beat, it was a gentle grip against my own. A hand over my back and fingers entangled in mine, released me into an effortless spin despite the sticky floor. My senses higher than ever, destined a pure smile on my lips adjoined by a light laugh, as I faced the hands that spun me. My head dipped back to gaze at the ceiling, at the lights that blurred across my vision creating a drunken dream. Then hands grazed the edges of my waist and spun me once more, unsteadily, but balancing. I rounded the room for a second time and let my senses explode with the beat’s flare. The explosion turned into one within me as I felt reality and life burn to dust from my surreal emotions. And then I was pure again, one with my old free self. I said my goodbyes to the hands, to the companions, and to the lively spell of sounds. After my feet no longer stuck to the floor, I grabbed my skateboard that lay alone and left. Rigid cold greeted me, my body shivered in the absence of where it stood seconds ago. But to fill the peril of silence from those wonderful sounds, airpods met my ears and played one, simply incomparable. The wheels of my skateboard rolled along the empty streets, under the same stars I had once looked at. Beneath the same stars I had once smiled and giggled at with awe. At midnight I carved along the vacant road smiling up at the same stars, with that same smile. And laughed. With that same laugh but one of more experiences and years. Under the same stars feeling alive again.
