Evading the world, we sat on my roof in love. The bite against my exposed skin made me want to crawl inside yours. Savor every inch of your compassion, your curiosity, and your feel. Underneath the universe’s heavens, I felt like an angel beside you. Flying over the world’s normalities and creating life of our own. One in which the stars were as plentiful and vibrant as your smile. Where the glassy blues of the ocean mimicked your eyes when they shed beautiful tears. Where the sunset captured the rosy beats of our intertwined hearts. A world of chaos we flew above finding a chaotic love of our own.

You asked me with a velvety ease why I could stare at the moon forever. It was the most simple question, but one that required thousands of words. Thousands of pages in my book to describe a singular feeling, but I would start here, writing:

I thought back to the night dancing under it drunkenly, when the street was my center stage. How it was a spotlight in an empty theater, enchanting an invisible fame for my ballerina performance, while the audience slept its magic away. Underneath its luminescence, I thought back to the paralyzing kisses planted on my lips. And the unworldly feelings that cursed through me when the earth only dreamt of such fantasies.

You know, beside your beating heart, laying on my roof, the world was ours as we looked over its vacancy of normality- the only moment in which I felt like my life belonged to me. The midnight’s compelling winter glow, softly pressed ice upon my gooseflesh clad skin, mimicking those, underneath your exploring hands. I could stare at the rich whites detailing heavenly features running along your face forever. The accents of glint which spread through your eyes turning them to a glitter.

I followed as the stars turn red with love, pink with passion, sizzling yellow-orange with laughter, and twinkling ivory in elegance. The admiring gloss of my eyes mirrored their colors, digesting their emotions until they were my own. Until my mind fell in sync with its effortless beauty and my body lay obeying its every silent whisper to me– I belonged watching the moon forever because it was a story written for me underneath it.
